Protologue citation:—“ Pedicularis n. 11, Herb. Ind. Or. H. f. & T. SIKKIM HIMALAYA ; Lachen Valley, alt. 12–13,000 ft., J. D. H.”.
Type:— INDIA. Sikkim: Lachen, 12,000 –13,000 ft., 17 July 1849, ( Pedicularis n. 11) Hook. f. s.n. (lectotype K000739091!, designated here).
Syntype:— INDIA. Sikkim: Lachen, 13,000 ft., 15 July 1849, ( Pedicularis n. 11) Hook. f. s.n. (K000739092!).
Notes:— Pedicularis denudata was described by Hooker (1884) based on the specimens collected by him from Lachen, Sikkim, India. Presently, two specimens of Pedicularis n. 11 collected by J. D. Hooker from Lachen, Sikkim, India are extant at K for the name P. denudata in herbarium Hookerianum (K000739091 and K000739092). Having different date of collection they don’t belong to the same gathering and aren’t duplicates (Art. 8.2 of the ICN). The better preserved specimen K000739091, is designated here as the lectotype.
