petrowsky ( Eucoptocnemis ), 1961: 83. [ Noctuinae . Noctuini ] ( Fig. 225)
Current status. Praina petrowsky [following synonymization of Tripseuxoa Hampson with Praina Schaus by Lafontaine 2004]
Type status (description). Holotype, allotype, and paratypes in Köhler’s collection, additional paratypes in Petrowsky’s collection.
Type locality and collectors. [ Argentina]—Prov. Buenos Aires: Villa Gesell, Costa del Atlántico , 23.iv.1957 (Petrowsky). Slide #955 .
Type specimens. IFML: Holotype ♂. Bs. Aires, V. Gesell, 23.iv.57. Abdomen missing. Without slide specification. TLEP303. ZSM: Holotype ♂. Argentina, Prov. Buenos Aires, Villa Gesell [sic], B. Petrowsky leg. Old label: V. Gesell, Petr. Genitalia slide ZS ♂ 16.
Figures. Köhler, 1961: pl. I, fig. 2 male genitalia (slide #955). Köhler, 1967: fig. 86 holotype (♂). Köhler, 1968: pl. 3, fig. 46 holotype (♂), fig. 47 allotype (♀), pl. 6, fig. 16 holotype male genitalia (as E. petrowsky [sic]).
Remarks. This species has two holotypes. The holotype specimen in the IFML corresponds to figure 86 in Köhler (1967), and the holotype specimen in the ZSM matches figure 46 of plate 3 in Köhler (1968). The latter specimen has had the posterior part of its abdomen removed, likely because Köhler took the photograph before removing that part to prepare the genitalia slide. It is highly probable that the correct holotype is the one in the IFML, as it has the same date as detailed in the description. However, the specimen in the ZSM was collected by Petrowsky, as noted in the description. Köhler often did not transcribe the exact information from each label and frequently summarized the data, so it is possible that the specimen in the ZSM is the correct holotype. A detailed examination of the specimens and the original description would be necessary to resolve this issue, a task beyond the scope of this work.
