( Figures 5 View Figure 5 , 6 View Figure 6 (c,d), 8(e); 11(g))

Type material (3 exx.)

Holotype: ♂, ‘ China: Yunnan, Xishaungbanna, Menglong Town, Mengsong , 22°03 ′ 41 ″ N, 100°30 ʹ 19 ʹ ’E, 1700 m, 03.iv.2018, sifting, Peng, Shen, Cheng leg.’ ( SNUC) . Paratypes: 2 ♂♂, same collection data as holotype ( SNUC).

Description

Male. Body ( Figure 5 View Figure 5 (a)) length (combined length of head, pronotum, scutellum, elytra and abdomen) 3.2–3.6 mm, fore body length (length of body minus abdomen) 1.9–2.1 mm. Head and elytral disc black, pronotal disc and abdominal tergites darkish brown, sides of pronotum, lateral margins of elytra, paratergites of abdomen, antennae, legs, and mouthparts reddish brown. Length of head ( Figure 5 View Figure 5 (b)) from anterior margin of clypeus to anterior margin of pronotum 0.49–0.57 mm, maximum width across eyes 0.62–0.63 mm. Length of antennae 0.77–0.81 mm. Pronotum ( Figure 5 View Figure 5 (b)) transverse, length along midline 0.64–0.68 mm, maximum width 0.92–1.0 mm; sides distinctly serrate. Elytra ( Figure 5 View Figure 5 (c)) transverse, length along suture (excluding scutellum) 0.63–0.70 mm, maximum width 0.97–1.08 mm; epipleural carinae visible for short distance (posterior 2/5 of elytral length) in dorsal view. Length of abdomen along middle 1.32–1.53 mm; posterior margin of sternite IX ( Figure 8 View Figure 8 (e)) moderately emarginate.

Aedeagus ( Figure 6 View Figure 6 (c)) asymmetrical at base, length 0.62–0.64 mm; median lobe moderately elongate, moderately broad, gradually narrowing apicad, apex pointed in dorso-ventral view. Endophallus ( Figure 6 View Figure 6 (d)) in repose approximately eight-tenths length of median lobe, apical part with single row of spines, middle part comprising group of large spines, basal part membranous. Parameres ( Figure 6 View Figure 6 (c)) moderately sinuate in ventral view; apices of parameres extending slightly below apex of median lobe; apical seta long, unpigmented.

Female. Unknown.

Comparative notes

Pseudopsis serrata sp. nov. shares only with P. susae Herman, 1983 ( India, Nepal, China), P. smetanai Zerche, 1998 ( China) , and P. crenata Zerche, 2000 ( Nepal) the distinctly serrate lateral margins of the pronotum. Pseudopsis serrata can be separated from these other species by the unique endophallic structure of the aedeagus. Pseudopsis susae has the endophallus with two large, stout spines at the base; P. smetanai lacks any sclerotised spines that compose the endophallus, and the parameres are less curved for the apical halves; and P. crenata has a much slenderer aedeagus, and the pronotal lateral margins are the most significantly serrated among the four species.

Distribution

China: Yunnan ( Figure 11 View Figure 11 (g)).

Etymology

The new species epithet refers to the serrate lateral pronotal margins of the new species.
