Vernacular Names: Dark-caped Atlantic Spiny-rat.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.

Discussion: Listed as Trinomys sp. in Lara and Patton (2000) and placed as the basal member of a clade also containing dimitiatus and iheringi (see also Lara et al., 2002).
