Description of Virgibacillus salarius MMS View in CoL 22-M6-3-15
Cells are Gram-stain-positive, non-flagellated, and rod shaped. Colonies are light purple colored, circular, convex, and filamentous when incubated for 7 days on MA plates at 30°C. In the API 20NE system, positive for nitrate reduction, urease, esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, and β -galactosidase; but negative for indole production, glucose fermentation, and arginine dihydrolase. D-Glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetyl- β -glucosamine, D-maltose, potassium glutamate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are not utilized as sole carbon sources. Strain MMS22-M6-3-15 (= NIBRBAC000509452) was isolated from a soil sample at Gangneung, Gangwon-do, Republic of Korea.
