Cells are gram-stain-positive and rod shaped. Colonies are smooth, opaque, convex, and cream colored after incubation for 2 days on R2A at 30°C. In the API 20NE system, positive for nitrate reduction, glucose fermentation, and esculin hydrolysis; but negative for indole production, arginine dihydrolase, urease, gelatin hydrolysis, β -galactosidase, and cytochrome oxidase. L-Arabinose, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are utilized as sole carbon sources; while D-glucose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, and adipic acid are not. Strain 16S1F15 (= NIBRBAC000509476) was isolated from a sediment soil sample at Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, Republic of Korea.
