Type material. Male holotype from Yahoué, New Caledonia, 0–100m, November 1986, N.L.H. Krauss, deposited in AMNH. Paratypes: 2F, same data ( AMNH).
Additional material examined. NEW CALEDONIA: 1M, 2F, Maré, Araucar[ia], 7 Jun 1986 ( HNHM 2014a); 1M, 1F, 2 juv., Maré, Araucarias erdő [forest], 26 May—8 Jun 1987 ( HNHM 2007a).
Diagnosis. In comparison with the most similar T. pennata , it can be distinguished by the shorter embolus, the shape of tegulum ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 12 – 20 ) and thicker RTA ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 12 – 20 ). From T. planiceps it differs by the smaller size and shorter embolus. Wing-shaped margins of shallow depressions of the epigyne distinctly separate ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ), copulatory ducts shorter than in other species ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ).
Description. Male holotype. Cephalothorax dark brown. Sparse white hairs on the sides, on the anterior middle of thorax, and between PME and PLE. Eyes surrounded in black, with anterior fringe of white and orange hairs. Thorax with indistinct lines radiating from fovea. Clypeus brown, narrower (20%) than AME diameter, covered with long, white hairs. Chelicerae brown, slender, with papillate anterior surface, fangs with distinctive protrusions. Promargin with single tooth, retromarginal tooth with 5 cusps. Endites and labium brown, sternum greyish brown. Palps light brown, only femur proximally darker, and with one dorsal spine. Tibia short, but slender; RTA short, slightly hooked ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 12 – 20 ). Embolus short set at the tip of the bulb ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 12 – 20 ). Legs I brown, distal tibiae and patellae lighter; ventral spination: pI: 2, tI: 2-2-2 (prolateral 1), mI: 2-2. Legs II light-brown; ventral spination: pII: 0, tII: 2-2-2 (prolateral 1-1), mII: 2-2. Other legs light brown. Abdomen brown with light patches, covered with sparse whitish hairs. Venter greyish brown with lighter stripes at sides. Spinnerets brown.
Dimensions. CL 2.23, CW 1.67, CH 0.93, AL 2.32, AW 1.26, EFL 1.19, AEW 1.57, PEW 1.59, leg I: 6.31, leg II: 4.12, leg III: 4.07, leg IV: 4.70.
Female. Cephalothorax dark brown. Eyes surrounded in black, with sparse orange hairs. Posterior slope with small patch of white hairs. Endites and labium brown, sternum greyish brown. Legs light brown; ventral spination: pI: 2; tI: 2-2-2 (prolateral 1-1 or 0-1); mI: 2-2; pII: 0, tII: 2-2-2 (prolateral 1-1), mII: 2-2 (prolateral 1-1). Abdomen with whitish/greyish pattern, covered with sparse brown hairs. Venter whitish. Epigyne with distinct posterior pocket ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ).
