Trite lineata Simon, 1885: 92 View in CoL (Male holotype from Nouméa, New Caledonia, MCZ 21853, and female allotype from Yahoué, New Caledonia, 0–100 m, December 1986, N.L.H. Krauss, AMNH, examined); Berry et al. 1997: 132; Platnick 2014.

Additional material examined. NEW CALEDONIA: 1F, Rivière Bleue, 160 m, 22°06′13″S, 166°39′16″E, 6 March 1987, A. & S. Tillier, Forêt humide/alluvions [rainforest] ( MNHN); 1F, Rivière Bleue P6, Forêt dense [rainforest], Fogging, 21 October 1992, J. Chazeau, É. Guilbert, Bonnet de Larbogne ( MNHN).

Diagnosis. In comparison with the most similar T. pennata and T. planiceps , it can be distinguished by the longer embolus, longer RTA, and the shape of tegulum ( Figs 8–9 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ). Epigyne with distinct posterior pocket ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ), copulatory ducts shorter than in previous species ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ), but slightly longer than in T. simoni . From T. planiceps , it differs also by the smaller size.

Sparse white hairs on the sides and on the anterior middle of thorax. Thorax with indistinct lines radiating from fovea. Clypeus light brown, narrower (24%) than AME diameter, covered with long, white hairs. Chelicerae brown, slender, with frontal spur and papillate anterior surface, fangs with distinctive protrusions ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ). Promargin with single tooth, retromarginal tooth with 4 cusps. Endites light brown, with lateral outgrowth. Labium light brown, sternum greyish brown. Legs I brown, distal tibiae and patellae lighter ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ); ventral spination: pI: 2, tI: 2-2-2 (prolateral 1-1), mI: 2-2. Legs II greyish brown; ventral spination: pII: 0, tII: 2-2-2 (prolateral 1-1), mII: 2-2. Other legs brown, lighter distally. Abdomen brown with longitudinal whitish stripes along the sides and dorsally along the midline, covered with sparse white hairs. Venter greyish brown. Spinnerets brown.
