Distribution. Palaearctic; introduced to North America ( Colonnelli 2013).

Material examined. 94 specimens ( KUMN, SIZK, ZIN), including: Cherkasy Prov.: 1 ( ZIN) Domantovo, V. Kizeritski leg., 1.vii.1918 ; Kropyvnytskyi Prov. : Elisavetgrad [= Kropyvnytskyi], E. Jacentkowski leg., 25.v.1903 .

Biology. Wetlands and forests; abundant in disturbed biotopes. Adults occur in IV–VIII. Oligophagous on Rumex spp. ( Polygonaceae ).

Note. All previous records of Rh. pericarpius are misidentifications and refer to Rh. leucostigma ( Huang & Colonnelli 2014) .
