Distribution. Central and South Europe, North Africa; introduced to North America.
Note. Vicariant species Pachyrhinus scutellaris (Roelofs, 1873) occurs in Japan.
Material examined. Literature data only.
Biology. Pine forests. Adults occur in IV–VI. On Pinus spp, occasionally on Picea or Abies .
