Diagnosis (modified from Blagoderov & Grimaldi, 2004). Flagellum 14- or 15-segmented. First flagellomere slightly wider than long. No foretibial distal inner comb. Wing membrane without macrotrichia. C ending beyond tip of R 5; Sc long, ending free; first sector of Rs ending before midpoint of R 1; r-m, first sector of M 4, and m-cu aligned; M 3 absent; M 1+2 and base of medial fork weak; CuA strongly curved towards base at apex. CuP not reaching margin. Male tergite 9 without marginal bristles, bearing a large, acute, triangular medial appendage and two small lateral ones; gonostylus simple, not bifurcate at apex.
