Tympanoterpes serricosta ( Germar, 1834)

C[icada] serricosta Germar 1834: 62 ( Brazil).

Fidicina pusilla Berg 1879: 140 (Corrients Province, Argentina).

Remarks. The reference to the species in Walker (1850) is to “ Cicada serricosta ?” He was uncertain of the identification and this is the only reference to the species in Guyana. The species may be shown to have been attributed to the fauna incorrectly if the original specimens used by Walker (1850) can be found. The species is retained for the list due to the references to Brazil and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2013) and the description being too vague to attribute to another species.

Distribution. The species was reported from Argentina, Brazil, Guyana, and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2013; Sanborn & Heath 2014).
