Distribution. The species has been reported across a wide geographic range. Records for the species have been published for Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Suriname, St. Lucia, the Antilles, Trinidad, Uruguay, and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2011a, b, 2013, 2014, 2019 a, 2020e; Sanborn & Heath 2014; Nunes et al. 2023). The species has been incorrectly reported from Panama ( Sanborn 2018b), Peru ( Sanborn 2020a), and Ecuador ( Sanborn 2020c). The validity of some of the synonymized species may redefine the range further.
