Body orange testaceous with irregular infuscate areas on pronotum and elytra (at base and along some intervals); peripheral rims of pronotum and elytra and striae on elytra slightly darkened; thoracic ventrites and trochanters darkened; basal antennomeres, palpi and legs more or less uniformly yellowish orange, paler than rest of body, and apical antennomeres slightly infuscate ( Fig. 1a View FIGURE 1 ). Length: 2.67 mm (range: 2.24–2.94 mm); width: 1.33 mm (range: 1.12–1.41 mm).

Head hypognathous at rest; frons and vertex regularly convex, finely microsculptured, with obsolete median longitudinal furrow and rather uniformly, deeply punctured, except on frontoclypeal area, sulcate above eyes with sulcus weakly impressed but visible above supra-antennal swellings; mostly glabrous except for long seta at middle of supraocular furrow and sparse short, very fine appressed yellowish setae near eyes and on short genae. Clypeus as long as wide at apex, punctured with smaller punctation than frons. Labrum small, smooth, about 1.5x as wide as long, emarginate at apex. Last maxillary palpomeres spindle-shaped, obliquely cut at apex. Eyes large, bulging, weakly emarginate at inner border. Antennae slender, reaching beyond middle of elytra; scape nearly cylindrical, slightly bent posteriorly, twice as long as thick, strongly narrowed at base; pedicel cup-shaped, half as long as scape; antennomeres 3–10 club-shaped, 3–6 glossy with sparse long setae, 7–11 slightly incrassate, finely granulose, clothed with dense, short hairs; third antennomere slightly longer and fourth as long as pedicel; fifth antennomere longer than third and sixth; seventh anntenomere longer than fifth; antennomeres 8–10 subequal, as long as fifth; eleventh antennomere longest, pointed, obliquely cut at apex internally. Pronotum transverse (1.38x as wide at base than long at middle), convex with stronger declivity toward anterior angles and subtle transverse, discontinuous impression at anterior half; anterior border weakly convex, produced forward medially, unmargined, narrower than posterior border, weakly bisinuate, with very short median lobe before scutellum, finely margined; anterior angles obtuse, blunt, slightly produced forward, with trichobothria displaced toward anterior border bearing long anterior setae; posterior angles obtuse, weakly produced laterally, with trichobothria at angle; sides slightly bisinuate, widest in front of middle, with narrow explanate margin; surface glabrous, shiny, very finely microsculptured, slightly irregular, with dense, deep, slightly elongate punctures, as big as or larger than distance separating them. Hypomera smooth, very finely microreticulate, unpunctured; anterior border straight. Prosternum short, narrower before than behind procoxae; prosternal process about half as wide as transverse diameter of procoxa and expanded apically enclosing procoxae posteriorly, smooth, glossy, with fine disheveled yellowish hairs. Scutellum arched, as long as wide at base, blunt at apex, finely microreticulated. Elytra long, basally as wide as base of pronotum, gently curved at sides, widest at middle and regularly curved at apex; elytra with transverse impression at basal 1/3; humeri strongly marked, unpunctured; eight complete regular striae on each elytron with longitudinally conjoined slit-like small punctation or dot-like individual, large punctures in 5–6 outer striae basally; additional short scutellar stria reaching transversely depressed area and short subhumeral dotted stria joining marginal bead of punctures before middle of elytron; intervals weakly convex basally and on disc, more convex at apical and lateral declivities of elytra; intervals unpunctured, very finely microreticulate. Mesoventrite relatively long, about as wide as prosternal process, slightly spatulate. Metaventrite short, glossy on disc, with short posterior median incision, finely granulose at sides, with fine posteriorly recumbent translucent hairs. All femora subequal, unarmed, narrow basally and strongly inflated medially; tibiae weakly curved, slightly shorter than corresponding femur, gradually enlarged toward apex; tarsi much shorter than corresponding tibia, with first pro- and mesotarsomeres conspicuously dilated in males; claws appendiculate. Abdominal ventrites finely shagreened, with imperceptible punctures and fine translucent hairs; last ventrite shortly emarginate at apex. Penis ( Fig. 2b View FIGURE 2 ) slender, moderately and relatively regularly curved in lateral view, with apical area straight and acute; laterally compressed at middle in dorso-ventral view, slightly expanded at level with operculum and converging in regular curve toward apex; dorsal flap of operculum short, transverse; apical end of penis expanded as axehead, with apical border feebly curved and wider at both ends than at base of apical expansion.

Females ( Fig. 4b View FIGURE 4 ): Females have first pro- and mesotarsomeres unmodified and their humeral interval is raised as a keel in basal half of elytra. Moreover, females often have their scutellum, the sutural interval, elytral intervals 4 and 5 on disc, sides and base of pronotum medially and apical antennomeres darkened. Spermatheca (Fig. 5b) small, consisting of round bulbous cornu and curved, progressively narrowing nodulus slightly twisted at base and connected at angle to spermathecal duct.

Diagnosis: The males of Kumatoeides aulacia sp. nov. could be confused with three other brownish Kumatoeides , including K. costata (Jolivet, Verma et Mille) , K. megale sp. nov. and K. millei sp. nov. K. aulacia (and the latter two species) has the scutellar row of punctures in a more or less continuous stria, while the punctures in K. costata are individualized. K. megale and K. millei are larger than K. aulacia , with first pro- and mesotarsomeres proportionally longer and broader. The males of the four species can be distinguished by their distinctive penises and, in general, the females of K. aulacia can be recognized by their pattern of darkened areas, but also by the marked posthumeral costa on elytra. All these species, with slight transverse depression at basal third of elytra, can be distinguished from others in the genus by the lack of metallic shine, by the close, strong punctation of pronotum, and by the completely ordered punctation of elytra.

Derivatio nominis: The name is a feminine adjective derived from the Greek noun αυλάκι, meaning groove or furrow, referring to the channeled sculpture of elytra.

Distribution: The species is known from localities in the southern part of the Massif du Panié and central areas of the Central Range (Chaîne centrale), mainly in and around L'Aoupinié ( Fig. 3a View FIGURE 3 ).
