Etymology: —epithet species is named after our mentor, eminent Indian mycologist, Dr. M. C. Srinivasan, Retired scientist, Biochemical Sciences Division, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratories, Pune and life member of MAC’S Agharkar Research Institute, Pune.
Type: — Holotype: AMH 9942 About AMH , ex-type culture in NFCCI 4231 View Materials .
Saprobic on fallen coconut litter. Sexual morph: undetermined. Asexual morph: Colonies effuse, dark brown, blackish brown to black. Stroma absent. Conidiophores indistinguishable. Conidiogenous cells reduced or sessile. Conidia solitary, dry, simple, ovoid or branched or Y-shaped or irregular, dark brown to blackish, dictyoseptate, with rhexolytic secession, paler towards tip when young, 73.5–130 × 32.5–51 μm, smooth, with arm-like appendages 0–8, with rudimentary or well developed appendages 0–8, simple, pale to dark brown, septate, 0–15-septate, arising from apical or lateral or excentric or basal part of the conidia 48.5–87 × 5–10.5 μm; rudimentary appendages 9–13 μm long.
Material examined: — INDIA. Maharashtra: Sindhudurg, N 15°86′43″, E 73°69′48″. Holotype: AMH 9942 About AMH , ex-type culture in NFCCI 4231 View Materials was isolated from Cocos nucifera L. on 18 July 2016 by KC Rajeshkumar.
Distribution: —found in the natural forests of Western Ghats.
Notes: —Colonies on MEA after 15 days at 25±2°C, velutinous, umbonate, slow growing, brownish grey at centre (4E2) to olive brown (4E4) towards margin smoke brown (4F2) to greyish black (H1); with irregular margin, 6–10 mm diam., reverse greyish black (H1) to jet black (5H2), exudates and soluble pigments absent, Conidia developed in culture (MEA) after 330 days of incubation at 25±2°C in a BOD incubator.
