General features. Colour yellow. Excretory pore on dorsal shield, near posterior margin, directed posterodorsally. Tips of Cx-I distanced from frontal margin. Number of swimming setae: male: II-L-5, 2–3; IV-L-5, 3; female: II-L-5, 3, III-L-5, 4; IV-L-5, 3. Palp as shown in Figs. 3C View FIGURE 3. A – F , 4C View FIGURE 4. A – C ; P-2 ventral margin almost straight, distally forming a blunt projection, dorsal margin convex; P-3 ventral margin concave, dorsal margin convex; P-4 proximally narrow, in the centre, near the insertion of two setae slightly elevated to form an obtuse projection near the insertion of the stronger ventral seta, a finer seta laterally on a further blunt elevation, dorsal margin equally convex, with several fine setae.

Male: Idiosoma L 417–475, W 316–346; posteriorly with obtuse lateral angles; distance tip Cx-I – gonopore 338–363; gnathosomal bay L 109–118; distance between IV-L insertion 170–178; gonopore L/W 32–33/28–30, flanked by acetabula arranged in triangle. Gnathosoma vL 82; chelicera total L 102; palp: L/H (in parentheses L/H ratio): P-1, 33/16 (2.1); P-2, 52/38 (1.37); P-3, 30/27 (1.1); P-4, 89/25 (3.56); P-5, 30/10 (3.0). Legs: IV-L-4–6: IV- L-4 with a prominent digitiform ventral extension bearing three stout setae (central of them bifurcated), IV-L-4 L/H 40/42, ratio 0.9; IV-L-5 with bowed dorsal margin, ventral margin concave, with scattered ventral setae, IV-L-5 L/ H 133/40, ratio 3.3; IV-L-6 slightly curved, ventrally with a line of longer setae, IV-L-6 L/H 104/21, ratio 4.9; claws modified as given in Figs. 3D–F View FIGURE 3. A – F , anterior claw> 1.5 longer than posterior claw.

Female (from Mezra stream): Idiosoma L 508–533, W 388–407; distance tip Cx-I – gonopore 417-421; gnathosomal bay L 124–132; gnathosoma vL 97; chelicera total L 113; palp: L/H (in parentheses L/H ratio): P-1, 31/17 (1.8); P-2, 60/39 (1.5); P-3, 30/26 (1.2); P-4, 91/26 (3.5); P-5, 33/10 (3.3). IV-L-5 L/H 104/20, ratio 5.2; IV- L-6 L/H 93/19, ratio 4.9.

Remarks. This species that was originally described from Abruzzo ( Italy) ( Di Sabatino & Cicolani 1991), is mostly characterized by the shape and setation of male IV-L-4–6 (all distal setae on IV-L-4 shortened and stout, central of them slightly bifurcated, IV-L-5 bowed, with scattered ventral setae, Gerecke pers. comm.). Pešiċ et al. (2006) proposed synonimization of B. baderi with B. mutila based on examination of the specimens from Turkey (Mezra stream), erroneously attributed to B. mutila , but here described as B. orientalis sp. nov. Habitat. Pools of running waters.

Distribution. Italy ( Di Sabatino & Cicolani 1991). New for Turkey.
