Holotype: MA70422 , Figure 1i, a median valve, collected by C.R. Laws from Late Oligocene (Duntroonian) Chatton Formation, Shell Gully, Chatton , Southland, New Zealand.

Remarks: Named after Edwin Ashby, “who has already described Callochiton chattonensis from these beds”.

C urrent name: Notoplax ashbyi ( Laws, 1932) ‒ Beu & Raine (2009).
