TYPE MATERIAL. — Vietnam • Annam , Province Nhatrang, Nord de Ninh Hoa, versant sud-est du massif de la Mère et l’Enfant ; 1300 m; 17.V.1923; Poilane 6472; holotype: P [ P00203965 !]; isotype: P [ P00204036 !] ).
DISTRIBUTION. — Vietnam.
NOTE
Singularly,Chen Bao Liang and Xia Nianha independently annotated the type specimens(P00203965 andP00203966) of Magnolia champacifolia J. E. Dandy ex F. Gagnepain as M.albosericea Chun &Tsoong. According toVu et al. (2015) M. champacifolia and M.albosericea belongs to the section Gwillimia DC ( Figlar & Nooteboom 2004) , but the former species can be distinguished from the latter by its leaf blades lanceolate, midvein densely villous, apex acuminate (vs. oblong-elliptic, midvein sparsely long sericeous, apex acute to short acuminate in M.albosericea ), lateral veins 13-14 pairs (lateral veins 15-20 pairs in M. albosericea ), petiole c. 4.5 cm long, densely villous when young (vs petiole up to 3.5 cm long, glabrous when young in M. albosericea ) and spathe densely villous (vs densely papillate in M. albosericea ).
