Etymology. This species is dedicated to Dr. Ítalo Sherlock: physician, entomologist and specialist in tropical disease vectors, in particular those of leishmaniasis and Chagas disease (Jurberg, Carcavallo & Lent 2001: 266).
Original citation. “Esta espécie est dedicada ao Dr. Ítalo Sherlock, médico entomólogo e especialista em vetores de doenças tropicais, principalmente os das leishmanioses e da doença de Chagas” (Jurberg, Carcavallo & Lent 2001: 266).
