Etymology. This species is dedicated to our eminent colleague Dr. Gastão de Oliveira, who conducted the first epidemiological studies on the disease of Carlos Chagas in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, in 1920 ( Neiva, Pinto & Lent 1939: 607).

Original citation. “A espécie é dedicada ao eminente colega Dr. Gastão de Oliveira que em 1920, fez os primeiros estudos epidemiológicos sobre a doença de Carlos Chagas no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul” ( Neiva, Pinto & Lent 1939: 607).
