Record as epibiont on cnidarians: The “dactylophrya stage” of this species, which have alternation of generations in the life cycle, was independently described under name Dactylophrya roscovita Collin, 1909 attaching to the hydrozoan Diphasia attenuata (Hincks, 1866) from Roscoff, Finistère, France ( Collin 1912).
Record as epibiont on other hosts: The same stage named as D. roscovita was found by Gassovsky (1916) on algae in the Kola Bay of the Barents Sea. The trophont stage of Tachyblaston ephelotensis Martin, 1909 parasited the cell body of suctorians of genus Ephelota , whereas “dactylophrya stage” usually attaching to the stalk of ciliate host ( Grell 1950, 1967).
