Taxonomy. Original description: Pomatoschistus caucasicus Berg, 1916: 409 [Swamp near Batum and Inkit Lake near Pitzunda, Lake Temirgorje, Georgia, Eurasia; syntypes: BMNH 1896.3.28.26-28 (ex Tiflis Mus.) (3)] .
