Taxonomy. Original description: Leuciscus parvus Temminck & Schlegel, 1846: 215 , pl. 102, figs. 3, 3a-b [Nagasaki, Kyushu, Japan; lectotype: RMNH 2634 ; lectotype selected by Boeseman (1947: 164)] .
