Habit and habitat. Solitary on humus in evergreen tropical forest.
Identification. This species can be distinguished by small basidiomata reaching 2 cm in length, composed of 3 or 4 yellowish to orange branches, the subtropical distribution, and the small bacillate basidiospores of 4–5 × 1–1.5 µm. Our material agrees with the description provided by López et al. (1981). Laternea pusilla Berk. & M.A. Curtis is a tropical to subtropical species, which differs by having a reddish basidiomata (Trierveiler- Pereira et al. 2019).
