Bolivaritettix celaenotus Zheng et al., 2009: 3 View in CoL , figs. 4–6 (holotype—female, China: Нainan Province, Jianfenglin; in the Institute of Zoology , Shaanxi Normal University); Deng et al., 2010: 47.
Material examined. Vietnam: Haiphong City, 8 November 2008, 1 female , coll. V.G. Bezborodov; Dak Lak Province, Yok Don National Park, near Ban Don , 23–28 November 1993, 1 female , coll. A.V. Gorochov. (Altogether 2 females).
Description. Female. Body small-sized for this genus. Antennae filiform, 16–17-segmented, 1.8–1.9 times as long as fore femur; middle segments 6.2–7.5 times as long as wide. Antennal grooves situated between lower third of eyes. Fastigium of vertex as wide as one compound eye seen from above; anterior margin of vertex rounded, reaching the frontal line of eyes; lateral margins of vertex curved; median carina of fastigium distinct; transverse carinae not reaching anteriorly the median carina; supraocular lobes vestigial; fossulae shallow. Compound eyes not elevated above pronotum in lateral view. Lateral ocelli situated between upper thirds of eyes. Frontal ridge in lateral view broadly rounded between eyes and gently excised below median ocellus; in frontal view, this ridge gently diverging downwards and narrow (ridge near the base of antennae as wide as first antennal segment). Pronotum in dorsal view with almost straight anterior margin; posterior process of pronotum short, not reaching apex of hind femora by 0.9–1.0 mm. Disc of pronotum behind the shoulders without impressions; posterior process of pronotum with numerous pimples; apex of this process blunt. Lateral sides of shoulders rounded in dorsal view. Median carina of pronotum in profile slightly undulate before shoulders and gently sinuate apically. Prozonal carinae well defined, distinctly constricted backwards; prozona transverse, 1.2–1.3 times as long as wide. Humeroapical carinae distinct; interhumeral carinae long and almost parallel. Tegminal sinus deep; lower part of lateral lobe of pronotum in dorsal view forming obliquely truncate lobule. Infrascapular area short. Tegmina narrow with broadly rounded apex; visible part of tegmen 2.4–2.6 times as long as wide; this part of tegmen 0.8–0.9 times as wide as mid femur. Hind wings short, not reaching the apex of posterior process of pronotum for 0.2 mm. Fore femur 3.6 times, mid femur 3.2–3.5 times as long as wide; upper and lower side of fore and mid femora almost straight. Hind femur 2.7–2.8 times as long as wide. Upper side of hind tibia with 7 outer and 3–5 inner spines, with margins finely serrated. First tarsal segment of hind leg 1.1–1.2 times as long as third one; ventral side of first tarsal segment with three pads, the apical pad elongated, the basal pads short triangular; third tarsal segment not swollen. Epiproct triangular, with pointed apex. Subgenital plate square; posterior margin of plate broadly rounded and with angular posterior process near middle. Cerci conical, with blunt apices, 1.7–1.8 times as long as wide near cercal base. Valves of ovipositor narrow, dentate; length of upper valve 3.7–4 times as great as its maximum width; length of lower valve 5.2–6 times as great as its maximum width.
General colouration of body black with brown marks. Head black; eyes dark brown; antennae light brown. Disc of pronotum black; lateral lobes black with light brown lower parts. Tegmina and hind wings blackish brown. Fore and mid femora light brown with distinct black rings. Fore and mid tibia brown near the base, apically whitish with two black rings. Hind femora black with a few light brown small spots; the ventral external area completely black. Hind tibiae black with a few indistinct light marks and without distinct rings. Fore and mid legs with both tarsal segments black, but the base of second segment whitish; hind legs with light brown tarsal segments, but second segment and apex of third segments blackish. Dorsal side of tergites light brown, lateral sides black. Sternites, epiproct, subgenital plate, and cerci brown. Ovipositor light brown with blackish base.
Male. Unknown.
Measurements (mm). Length of female body 8.3–8.8; pronotum 8.1–8.3; antenna 3.5–3.6; tegmen 1.3; fore femur 1.8–2.0; mid femur 1.9–2.0; hind femur 5.7–6.4; ovipositor 1.2–1.3.
Distribution. China (Hainan), northern and southern Vietnam (Haiphong City and Dak Lak Province).
Remarks. Here this species is recorded from Vietnam for the first time. The differences of Bolivaritettix celaenotus from the congeners are given recently in the key ( Deng et al., 2010). The examined females from Vietnam are very similar to the type specimens from Hainan in the body structure and colouration, but slightly differ in the measurements and the shape of subgenital plate (in Chinese females, the length of pronotum 7.0– 7.5 mm and the subgenital plate elongated, 1.5 times as long as wide). Vietnamese specimens may be considered as separate subspecies, but the number of known specimens is strongly limited (two females from China and two from Vietnam). This is not enough for evaluation of variability of this species.
