Onconida Baba & de Saint Laurent, 1996: 482 [type species: Onconida alaini Baba & de Saint Laurent, 1996, by original designation].

Remarks. Including Onconida ariel sp. nov. described below, Onconida comprises six species, five of which occur in the Pacific Ocean. The new species described below is the first Australian and Indian Ocean record of the genus.
