Lasioseius floridensis Berlese
Lasioseius (Zercoseius) penicilliger var. floridensis Berlese, 1916: 44 ; Mineiro et al., 2009: 10.
Lasioseius arboreus Chant, 1963: 291 ; Lindquist, 1964: 293; Christian & Karg, 2006: 234 — new synonymy. Lasioseius fimetorum Karg, 1971: 248 ; Karg, 1993: 250; Christian & Karg, 2006: 183 — new synonymy.
Diagnosis. All instars: All legs with paired claws, rounded pulvilli; tarsus II with seta pl -2 elongate. Adult females: Dorsal shield reticulated over nearly entire surface, and punctate in area between setae J4, Z4 and Z5, with 36 pairs of setae, including r4. Setae z1, s2, r2 and r4 short and aciculate; s1 thicker and more than twice as long as s2; J5 short and serrate; Z3–Z5, S4 and S5 moderately long, thickened, tricarinate, and distally serrate; other setae nearly also as moderately long and tricarinate. Eight pairs of marginal (r -R) setae and one pair of submarginal setae (UR) on soft lateral cuticle. First pair of sternal setae on weakly sclerotized anterior region of sternal shield. Sternal shield with anteromedial strip of reticula. Endopodal plate distinct only between coxae III and IV; elsewhere, fused to sternal shield. Ventrianal shield transversely lineate, with puncta in anal region, and with four pairs of opisthogastric setae in addition to circumanal setae; six pairs of opisthogastric setae on soft cuticle around ventrianal shield, JV5 tricarinate. Peritreme extending anteriorly to base of j1. Inguinal region with two pairs of small metapodal plates. Epistome triramous, each tine denticulate. Fixed cheliceral digit with row of ca 12 teeth; movable digit tridentate. Spermatheca with a short major duct leading to a strongly sclerotized, shallowly cup-shaped calyx; minor duct long, convoluted and divided for a short section near truncate terminus; division variable, sometimes difficult to see. Legs not elongated; leg I slightly shorter than dorsal shield; leg IV about as long as dorsal shield, its tarsus with no setae longer than tibia. Tarsus II with one midlateral seta, pl -2, elongate, and with seta ad -2 more attenutated and longer than pd -2. Tarsus III with seta ad -2 slightly longer but not more attenuated than pd -2. Adult males: Dorsal shield ornamented as in female, with 38 pairs of setae, including r2-r5 and R1. Form and relative lengths of dorsal shield setae as in female. Five pairs of marginal setae on lateral membrane. Ventrianal shield ornamented as in female, expansive but not fused with peritrematal and sternitigenital shields, with six pairs of opisthogastric setae in addition to circumanals. Spermatodactyl ca. 1.2 as long as movable cheliceral digit, tapered and moderately sinuate. Legs as in adult female, lacking evident dimorphic structures.
