Index Fungorum number: IF 552496; Facesoffungi number: Fof 02612 FIG. 2 View FIGURE .

Etymology: In reference to the collection site where this fungus was collected, ThamPla Cave, Thailand

Holotype: MFLU 16-2511 View Materials

Saprobic on corticated, decaying branch among limestone outcrops. Sexual morph: Ascomata 312–462 × 310–413 μm, scattered or gregarious, visible on the host surface as dark, raised spots, black, immersed, clypeate, subglobose to obpyriform, some with a broad, flattened base, coriaceous to carbonaceous, ostiolate, papillate. Clypeus 10–40 μm thick, extending outwards around the ascomata, thicker around the papilla, composed of dense, melanized cells. Papilla blunt conical, periphyses not seen. Peridium 14–(38)–49 μm, composed of three strata, an outer stratum of pale brown, dense, amorphous, thick-walled cells fusing with host tissue, a middle layer of thick-walled, black cells of textura angularis and an inner layer of thin-walled black cells of textura angularis. Hamathecium comprising numerous, 1–2.5 μm wide, hypha-like pseudoparaphyses, attached at the base and between the asci, embedded in a gelatinous matrix. Asci 114–160 × 6–8.5 μm (x = 137 × 7 μm, n = 20), 8-spored, long cylindrical, short-pedicellate, apically rounded with an obvious apical ring. Ascospores 19.5–23.5 × 5–6.5 μm (x = 22 × 5.5 μm, n = 30), overlapping-uniseriate, hyaline, fusiform with acute angular ends, normally 3-septate, constricted at the septum, smooth-walled, containing several guttules when young. Asexual morph: Undetermined.

Culture characters: Ascospores geminating on WA within 24 hours and germ tubes produced from ends. Colonies reaching 22–25 mm diam. on PDA in 3 weeks at 25 °C, raised at the center, circular, irregular at the margin, felty, white from above, brownish from below.
