Type locality. New Zealand (no further details) .
Size. Males 24 mm, females 25 mm.
Remarks. Historic Stebbing collections from the Natural History Museum, London and more recently collected material of B. quoyana from NIWA were compared, and additional illustrations of the species are provided based on the recent collections from the New Zealand, North Island.
Habitat. S upralittoral.
Distribution. New Zealand. South Island: Ross Beach; Westland; Waimakariri River, Kaiapoi Beach, Dunedin ( Chilton 1917, Hurley 1956, current study). North Island: Maketu, Ocean Beach (current study).
