Type material. Male holotype from Brazil, Paraíba, Mataraca (35°03′04″ W, 06°36′05″ S), 2019, A. Maia leg. GoogleMaps ,

margins, visible until middle of the body ring. Legs and telson yellowish brown. Telson with epiproct not surpassing the paraprocts. Opening of paraprocts projected ( Fig. 7c View Fig ). Hypoproct subtriangular in the middle portion gray and yellowish edge. Ozopores beginning at the sixth body ring. Scobinae semicircular beginning at seventh body ring. Leg pairs 3–7 of male ( Fig. 7b View Fig ). resemble Poecilocricus singularis , but coxae of leg pairs 3–5 with thin processes since the base and apex is pointed. Gonopods ( Figs. 7d–f View Fig and 8a–c View Fig ): anterior gonopod wider than long, with an extremely short sternite and rounded apex, coxite oval constricted in the lateral portion, medially shortened and with evident round bulge at both sides. Telopodite elongated and thin with a distal thin and truncated lobule. Telopodite of the posterior gonopod distally slightly curved and trifurcated. The external branch is bifurcated in two branches, an inner branch lamellated, thin and slightly curved; outer branch is thin. Solenomere lanceolated.

Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition, taken from the type locality.

Diagnosis. Poecilocricus mataraca sp. nov. resembles Poecilocricus singularis by all characteristics cited above in diagnosis of Poecilocricus singularis but differs by the shape of sternite of the anterior gonopod, which is medially rounded ( Figs. 7e View Fig and 8a View Fig ); apex of coxite is pointed and telopodite is elongated and thin ( Figs. 7e, f View Fig , and 8a, b View Fig ). Telopodite of the posterior gonopod with an inner longer branch (7d, 8c).

Description. Male holotype ( Fig. 7a–c View Fig ) with 60p + 1a + T. Total length 68.0 mm. Total width 8.1 mm. Coloration in alcohol: general coloration yellowish brown. Three last antennomeres of antennae yellowish with some setae, and numerous apical sensory cones. Collum medial portion and prozonites gray; metazonites with yellowish posterior Female. (CZUFMT1807) coloration as in male. With 59p + 1a + T. Total length 69.0 mm. Total width 8.4 mm.

Distribution. Known from Cabedelo, Mamanguape and Mataraca, State of Paraíba, Brazil.
