Material examined. MFM 145597– MFM 145606 and over 600 other referred specimens.

Remarks. The present species has been described from the Lower Pleistocene to Recent in the Kyushu to Kanto district, Japan (e.g., Karasawa & Goda 1996; Kato & Karasawa 1998; Ando & Kawano 2017; Komai et al. 2019). Komai et al. (2019) collected the specimens of extant Laticallichirus grandis from the muddy-sand mixed with gravel bottom of subtidal zone, and Ando & Kawano (2017) showed that the species was living under the coarsegrained sandy and gravelly bottoms mixed with shells of the upper sublittoral zone. The preservation of the present specimens is similar to other described specimens that seemed to be living near the sedimentary area ( Ando et al. 2016; Ando & Kawano 2017). Therefore, the present specimens were not, in all likelihood, transported from other localities and shallower environment, and the present record suggests that the species has been living under coarsegrained sandy and gravelly bottoms mixed with shells of the lower sublittoral to subtidal zones.
