Subgenus: Corynopus Lepeletier de Saint Fargeau and Brullé, 1835: 802 . Type species: Crabro tibialis of Panzer, 1801 [= Crabro tibialis Fabricius, 1798 = Sphex coarctatus Scopoli, 1763 ], by monotypy.
Diagnosis. Head and mesosoma shiny, orbital fovea indistinct or sometimes present, ocellar triangle equilateral or slightly broader than high ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–8 ); antennomere IV conspicuously indented below in males; pronotal collar without carina; tergum I pyriform apically; pygidial plate distinctly edged, without median carina often, with mediobasal hump ( Figs. 12, 14–15 View FIGURES 12–15 ) ( Lepeletier and Brullé 1835; Leclercq 2011).
