Distribution and habitat. Distribution in Afghanistan: Kabul River.—General distribution: South Asia: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Myanmar.—Habitat: This species inhabits plains and submontane regions and is found in rivers, lakes, tanks, and ponds. Freshwater.
Economic importance. Commercially important.
Conservation. Conservation status in Afghanistan: Unknown.—IUCN: NT ( Ng et al. 2010).—Threats: FIT.— Moderate sensitivity to human activities.—Not considered as a keystone species.—Decline status: Unknown.— Moderate priority for conservation action.
