Taxonomy. Original description: Schizocypris ladigesi Karaman, 1969: 57 View in CoL , fig’d [Kankae River, Afghanistan, elevation 1500 metres; holotype: ZMH H4117].— Afghanistan synonyms: None.—Revisions: Coad & Keyzerde Ville (2005: 37).—Illustration: Karaman (1969: 57, fig.).
Status in Afghanistan. First record from Afghanistan by Karaman (1969: 57, fig.); confirmed by Coad (1981: 8).—Afghanistan materials: None.
Distribution and habitat. Distribution in Afghanistan: Kankai River and Chamkani River.—General distribution: Afghanistan endemic.—Habitat: This species occurs in rivers and streams. Freshwater.
Economic importance. Locally consumed, but of no commercial importance.
Conservation. Conservation status in Afghanistan: Unknown.—IUCN: NE (2023).—Threats: Unknown.—Low sensitivity to human activities.—Not considered as a keystone species.—Decline status: Unknown.—Low priority for conservation action.
Remarks. This species identified recorded by from Afghanistan by Karaman (1969). It was later synonymised with S. brucei , therefore excluded from the list by Coad (2014: 312).
