Taxonomy. Original description: Discognathus adiscus Annandale, 1919: 68 View in CoL , pls. 10, fig. 2, 11, fig. 1 [Seistan, eastern Iran; holotype: ZSI F9763/1). Type catalog: Menon & Yazdani 1968:107].— Afghanistan synonyms: Crossocheilus adiscus ( Annandale, 1919) View in CoL ; Gonorhynchus adiscus ( Annandale, 1919) .—Revisions: Sayyadzadeh et al. (2015: 353) as Gonorhynchus adiscus .—Illustration: Annandale (1919: pl. 10, fig. 2, pl. 11, fig. 1); Sayyadzadeh et al. (2015: figs. 2–5) as Gonorhynchus adiscus .
Status in Afghanistan. First record from Afghanistan by Coad (1981: 11 as Hemigarra elegans adiscus ); confirmed by Coad (2015: 228 as Gonorhynchus adiscus ).—Afghanistan materials: BMNH.
Distribution and habitat. Distribution in Afghanistan: Sistan River.—General distribution: Middle East, South Asia: eastern Iran and Helmand River ( Afghanistan).—Habitat: This species occurs in freshwater streams. Freshwater.
