Type material. Holotype (herein examined): USNM 94290 .

Type locality. Cuba: off Cuba, sta. 34; 1426 m; Rush leg.

Material examined. The holotype.

Remarks. Bartsch (1911) introduced the species in Aclis and later transferred it to Costaclis by the presence of strong axial ribs in the teleoconch ( Bartsch 1947). Bouchet & Warén (1986) did not adopt the classification in Costaclis . The present species has a subcylindrical shell shape, a bulbous protoconch with less than 2.0 whorls and the absence of an umbilical fissure, which does not fit Aclis and Costaclis . Based on the previous shell features, a new classification in the genus Graphis is proposed here, despite lacking spiral cords at the lower half of each teleoconch whorl as in Graphis albida ( Kanmacher, 1798) (= Turbo unicus Montagu, 1803 ), the type species of Graphis . Other species without spiral cords and with a very different protoconch morphology are currently considered in Graphis , for example, Graphis gracilis ( Monterosato, 1874) (see Gofas et al. 2014: Fig. 7H, I, J, K ).
