Type material. Syntypes: NHMUK 1889.10.1.768–770 [3] .

Type locality. Saint Helena .

Remarks. The heterostrophic protoconch indicates that this species is not a member of Aclis . A tentative placement in Ebala Gray, 1847 is here proposed. Ebala similima (E.A. Smith, 1890) comb. nov. is probably related to other species from West Africa treated by Peñas & Rolán (2001) under Anisocycla Monterosato, 1880 but now placed in Ebala (see Warén 2013 for further details about these generic names).
