Stultaspa gen. n. and Stultaspidae fam. n.

Protaspa obliqua ( Larsen & Patterson 1990) Cavalier-Smith in Howe et al. 2011 has the morphological and significant SSU rDNA difference from other studied species of Protaspa ( Larsen & Patterson 1990; Hoppenrath & Leander 2006; Chantangsi & Leander 2009). The molecular phylogenetic analyses positioned this species distantly from other species of the genus—as the distant sister group of the drade (see Shɨshkin 2021) composed of Cryothecomonadidae Cavalier- Smith 1993 plus Rhogostomidae Dumack et al. 2017 a plus all other species of Protaspa (and “ Protaspidae ”), which also constituted the drade (Chantangsi & Leander 2009; Howe et al. 2011; Dumack et al. 2017 b; Bass et al. 2018). This indicates that the current composition of both the genus Protaspa and the family “ Protaspidae ” is merophyletic (in the same sense as in Shɨshkin 2021). Along with the significant pure phylogenetic distance, there was a significant number of environmental sequences between P. obliqua and other species of Protaspa (Chantangsi & Leander 2009) . Accounting for all this and to preserve holophyly of Protaspa and Protaspaidae nom. n. (fam.), here, P. obliqua was transferred to its own genus Stultaspa gen. n. and family Stultaspidae fam. n.
