Labramachaerota View in CoL View at ENA gen. n.
Type species: Labramachaerota korupa sp. n.
Generic Diagnosis. Head narrower than prothorax; eyes red; anteclypeus with distinct medial spot; forewing with weakly pigmented venation in the medial section; pygofer heavily sclerotized; aedeagus with blade-like apex.
Generic Description. Head: head width ~0.8× pronotal width; crown easily visible in dorsal view; postclypeus evenly convex with sparse setae in lower quarter; anteclypeus smooth with some setae and medial spot of lighter color; pleurostome ~2.0× as long as gena and ~1.75× as long as lorum; maxillary plate partially exposed between lorum and gena; eye ~4× wider than long in dorsal view, round in lateral view; width of eye subequal to width of tylus; ocello-ocular distance ~1.3× interocellar distance; supra-antennal triangle well developed. Thorax: pronotum moderately humpbacked, lightly punctate, lacking reticulation, posterolateral margin ~2.5× as long as anterolateral margin, posterior sinuation ~0.3× as deep as length of posterior edge, anterolateral margin short, weakly distinguished from frontal edge in dorsal view, posterolateral margin curving inwards; scutellum with moderate medial depression, ~1.6× deep as wide; tegmina hyaline, basal ¼ pigmented; tegmen veins weakly pigmented, apical cells more darkly; vein R forked medially; tibia ~1.5× as long as femur, with 2 spines (apical spine ~2× longer than basal spine); hind tarsus with segment 1 longer than other segments combined.
Distribution. CAMEROON: Southwest Province.
Remarks. This genus is distinguishable from other African genera of Machaerotidae by the head being narrower than the prothorax, the forewings with weakly pigmented venation (at least in the medial region), and eyes being red. The name is derived from the Latin “ labrum ” (meaning lip) after the distinctive marking on the anteclypeus.
