Type species: Neosyringophilopsis acanthizus sp. nov. Host order: Passeriformes .
Habitat: Quills of primary and secondary feathers.
Description
Female: Gnathosoma: Hypostomal apex with pair of long and sharpended protuberances. Hypostomal lips with 2 pairs of protuberances. Lateral hypostomal teeth absent. Chelicerae dentate, each with three teeth. Peritremes Mshaped. Stylophore constricted or rounded posteriorly. Idiosoma: All idiosomal setae smooth. Propodosomal shield divided longitudinaly. Setal pattern of propodosomal region with six pairs of propodosomal setae arranged 312 or 3111. Bases of setae d2 situated closer to l2 than to l1. Hysterosomal shield absent, pygidial shield present. Genital and anal series each with 2 pairs of setae. Three pairs of paragenital setae present. Legs: All setae smooth (except p’ and p’’ multiserrate). Epimeres I divergent, not fused with epimeres II. Setae lGIV absent. Legs subequally thick. Claws subequal, without basal angle.
Male: Characters as in female except: Gnathosoma: Hypostomal apex with pair small and sharpended protuberances. Chelicerae edentate. Stylophore constricted posteriorly. Idiosoma : 3111. Bases of setae d2 situated subequal to l2 and l1. Two pairs of paragenital setae present.
Differential diagnosis
Neosyringophilopsis View in CoL gen. nov. is similar to the genus Syringophilopsis Kethley, 1970 by the presence of the following characters: the hypostomal apex is with the median protuberances, the chelicerae are dentate, six pair of propodosomal setae are present, all setae of the idiosoma View in CoL are smooth and hairlike, the anal and genital series are each with two pairs of setae, the paragenital series is with three pairs of setae, epimeres I are divergent.
The new genus differs from Syringophilopsis by the following characters: in Neosyringophilopsis View in CoL gen. nov., the propodosomal shield is divided longitudinaly, setae lG of legs IV are absent; epimeres I are not fused to epimeres II. In Syringophilopsis , the propodosomal shield is entire, but may be deeply concave on the anterior margin; setae lG of legs IV are present; epimeres I are fused to epimeres II.
