Diese circummediterrane Art hat LINSENMAIER (1997a) zuletzt irrtümlich als Unterart von E. incrassatus umgedeutet. Es handelt sich jedoch zweifelsfrei um zwei verschiedene Arten (persönliche Mitteilung von Paolo Rosa), die leicht anhand ihrer unterschiedlich groben Abdomen-Punktierung und meist auch der Färbung zu unterscheiden sind. In Südeuropa ist E. humboldti mit der Nominatform vertreten.

Auf der Peloponnes kommt E. humboldti im Tiefland und im Mittelgebirge bis ca. 1500m vor. Wirte sind nicht bekannt, doch lassen meine Funddaten vermuten, dass die Faltenwespe Syneuodynerus egregius HERRICH- SCHAEFFER parasitiert wird.
