Diagnosis. Chnoodes centralis Sicard, 1912 resembles C. melanus sp. nov. in the metallic reflections on the pronotum and elytra, but differs in the spots on the elytra and in the shape of the female genitalia, with a short spermatheca with a curved apex.
Redescription. Female. Length 2.62 mm, width 2.18 mm. Body rounded, with short fine white pubescence. Pronotum black with metallic-bronze reflections, without spots, anterior border castaneous around apical margin. Scutellar shield black with metallic-bronze reflections. Elytra black with metallic-bronze reflections, which one with one reddish spot occupying almost entire elytron disc, leaving only black area in center and around elytra; apex with narrow castaneous margin ( Figs. 1A, D View FIGURE 1 ). Head and mouthparts black, antennae castaneous. Meso- and metaventrite black ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 ). First and second abdominal ventrites black, others castaneous. Epipleuron black with superficial excavations to receive femora. Femora and tibiae black, tarsus castaneous ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ).
Genitalia with coxites 2.5x longer than wide, subtriangular; stylus mammiliform with short bristles ( Fig. 1E View FIGURE 1 ). Spermatheca C-shaped, strongly curved at apex; apex rounded with small mammiliform projection ( Fig. 1F View FIGURE 1 ).
Geographical Distribution. French Guiana (Roura, Cayenne) ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ).
Material examined. Guyane Française, Montagne des Chevaux, Commune de Roura, RN2 PK22, 05/VI/ 2011, malaise SLAM, Stéphane Brûlé leg./ DZUP 188131 ♀. Specimens from DZUP were compared with photos of type material received from MNHN.
