Diagnosis. Chnoodes tristis sp. nov. resembles C. melanus sp. nov. in the black color of the integument, but differs in having the pronotum with two lateral orange spots, in the shape and size of the male genitalia, and in the shape of the spermatheca.

Integument of pronotum, scutellar shield and elytra black; pronotum with two lateral orange spots, anterior border translucent; elytra apex with very narrow orange to castaneous margin ( Figs. 5A, D View FIGURE 5 ). Head, antennae and mouthparts orangeish ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ). Meso- and metaventrite black. Epipleuron brownish, with slight excavations to receive femora. Legs with femora, tibiae and tarsi orangeish ( Fig. 5B View FIGURE 5 ).

Genitalia with tegmen, penis guide, phallobase and parameres symmetrical. Penis guide shorter than parameres, slightly tapered at apex, rouded ( Fig. 5E View FIGURE 5 ). Parameres articulated with phallobase, distant from each other, 2x length of penis guide, slightly widened at apex, with short bristles at base and long bristles on median part of parameres ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 ). Penis sclerotized, J-shaped, apex thin and slightly curled, penis capsule long, T-shaped ( Fig. 4G View FIGURE 4 ).

Female. Length 2.90–3.05 mm, width 2.30–2.62 mm. Similar to male. Genitalia with coxites longer, 2.5x longer than wide, subtriangular; stylus with short bristles ( Fig. 5H View FIGURE 5 ). Spermatheca short, C-shaped, strongly curved near apex, ramus and nodulus distinct; apex narrowing, slightly mammiliform ( Fig. 5I View FIGURE 5 ).
