Distribution: — MALAYSIA. Borneo. Sarawak. Endemic in Gunung Mulu NP.
Habitat: —In lowland limestone habitats at elevations below 200 m in lightly shaded areas or on limestone-derived soil.
Additional specimens examined: — MALAYSIA. Borneo. Sarawak. Marudi District: Gunung Mulu NP – Lobang Cina, Julia & Sirukit SFC 3013 (SAR).
Notes: —A shrubby species with thick stems 2–3 mm when dried, often with swollen nodes and glossy leaves (in life) held horizontally with a corrugated surface with bifurcating palmate veins arranged closely together. The lamina is as long as wide, oblique, asymmetric and glossy with broad side 7.5–12 cm. Its stipule has a distinct midrib, ca. 12 × 3 mm and is caducous. It has congested inflorescences shorter than the petioles with bracts to 14 × 7 mm.
