Smetana, 1996b: 232 ( Quedius ; subgenus Raphirus ; Type locality: China, Fujian, Kuatun (2300 m) 27, 40 n. Br. 117, 40 ö. L. J. Klapperich 19. 4. 1938 (Fukien)); Herman, 2001: 3163 (world catalog); Smetana, 2004: 665 (catalog for Palaearctic region).

Material examined. CHINA: Fujian Province: 1 ♂, Chongan (Wuyishan) City, Xingcun Township, Sangang Village, 740–910 m, 25. V. 1960, coll. Chenglin Ma; 1 ♂, Shanghang County, Meihua Mountain, Mafang, 1147 m, 7. XI. 2008, coll. Fengyan Wang.

Measurements. BL = 14.0 mm, BW = 2.7 mm, HL/PL/EL = 1.00: 1.47: 1.69, HW/PW/EW/AW = 1.00: 1.35: 1.45: 1.41, HW/HL = 1.22, HEL/HTL = 4.73, PW/PL = 1.12, EW/EL = 1.05, ESL/EL = 0.51.

Distribution. Quedius gang Smetana is known from several localities in Fujian and Guangxi Province, at altitudes between 740 m and 2300 m. The examined specimen from Shanghang County was collected by hand under a rock.
