Maraces flavobalteata View in CoL nov. ssp. vietnamensis

H o l o t y p u s (): S Vietnam: Dong Nai, Cat Tien N.P., c 100 m, 1 1-9.x.2005, ficus trail, Mal. trap 1-8, C. Van Achterberg & R. de Vries RMNH`05" (Leiden).

The available male differs from the redescription of Maraces flavobalteata published by HEINRICH (1974: 503-505) by some minor structural and colour features: body length 11 mm, flagellum with 31 flagellomeres. Basal 7 or 8 flagellomeres reddish-brown below, flagellum otherwise black, without ivory stripe or ring. Hind tibia blackish in the basal 0.2 and the apical 0.3, with a yellowish ring subbasally, hind tarsus completely black. Otherwise as described for Maraces flavobalteata CAMERON.

T a x o n o m i c a l r e m a r k s Maraces flavobalteata CAMERON seems to be a widespread taxon in the Oriental regions showing many colour-forms and/or subspecies. Therefore, the variation and limitation of these forms should be analyzed with more material from different locations.
