( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 , 2A, 2C, 2 View FIGURE 2. A, C, E E, 3A–B, 7)

Diagnosis. MALE. Clypeus preapically with long transversely concave area. Scape outer carina less developed than mesal one, distance between carinae 0.3 × scape width; flagellomere 1 subequal to flagellomere 2. Tergum 2 apical fringe and tergum 3 posterior half with dense yellow setae. Felt line on tergum 2 about 3 × as long as that on sternum 2. Volsellar cuspis apex with long dense setae. Head and metasoma black; mesosoma ferruginous-red, except sterna and inferior part of mesopleuron black; legs dark brown to black (one paratype from Hunan with legs largely ferruginous-red). FEMALE unknown.

Description. Male. Body length 12.5–13.5 mm, fore wing length 9.5–11.0 mm. Relation of head width and mesosoma width at tegula level 43:52. Head. Mandible bidentate, basally beneath neither emarginated nor toothed. Clypeus with median, pentagonal, smooth area, posteriorly slightly elevated, anteriorly with wide, transversely concave area, forming arcuate carina preapically. Scape bicarinate beneath, with narrow punctate area between two carinae, outer carina less developed than mesal one, distance between carinae 0.3 × scape width; first flagellomere 1.4 × as long as its maximal width, subequal to flagellomere 2; antennal tubercle carinate above. Ratios POL:OD:OOL 18:11:27. Frons, vertex and gena with dense confluent punctures.

Mesosoma . Mesoscutum with distinct notaulus, parapsidal furrow and short admedian line, notaulus almost touching anterior margin. Tegula posteriorly curved inside, slightly extending beyond posterior margin of mesoscutum, smooth and shiny. Mesoscutellum evenly convex. Pronotum, mesoscutum, mesopleuron and scutellum with coarse dense confluent punctures. Pronotum laterally slightly rugose. Metapleuron smooth and shiny. Propodeum reticulate, dorsally with median, longitudinal, enclosed area.

Legs. Legs with dense suberect yellow setae. Major spur of metatibia longer than metatarsomere 2.

Wings. Fore wing with three submarginal and two discoidal cells. Distance between origin of Rs1 on vein Sc+R+Rs and base of stigmatic cell 0.83 × as long as stigmatic cell length. Marginal cell of fore wing 1.07 × as long as length of submarginal cell 1.

Metasoma. Tergum 2 medially transversely convex. Felt line on tergum 2 about 3 × as long as that on sternum 2. Sternum 1 with longitudinal median carina widened posterad. Sternum 2 antero-medially gibbous. Hypopygium rugoso-punctate, with two small weak tubercles located transversally; without lateral ridges. Tergum 1 with shallow somewhat confluent punctures, posteriorly finer and denser. Segment 2 with dense separate punctures, medially sparser. Terga 3–6 with fine dense somewhat confluent punctures. Tergum 7 with dense somewhat confluent punctures, medially with longitudinal narrow smooth area. Sterna 3–6 posteriorly with fine sparse punctures. Sterna 7 and 8 with coarse dense confluent punctures. Genitalia as in Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A, B, volsellar cuspis long, with long dense setae; penial valve apically hook-like.

Colour and pubescence. Head and metasoma black. Mesosoma ferruginous-red, except sterna and inferior part of mesopleuron black, metapleuron and propodeum laterally sometimes blackish. Legs dark brown to black (one paratype from Hunan with legs largely ferruginous-red); tibial spurs pale. Wings subhyaline. Vertex and gena with sparse erect yellow setae; frons with dense subappressed yellow setae. Pronotum, scutellum, metanotum and propodeum dorsally with sparse erect long yellow setae. Mesoscutum with sparse suberect fuscous setae, mixed with yellow ones. Mesopleuron with dense subappressed yellow setae. Pronotum laterally, metapleuron and propodeum laterally with sparse recumbent yellow micropubescence. Metasomal segments 1–3 with sparse erect yellow setae. Sterna 2 and 3 posteriorly with fringe of sparse whitish yellow setae. Tergum 2 apical fringe and tergum 3 posterior half with dense yellow setae. Segment 4 with sparse erect black setae, mixed with rare yellow setae. Terga 5–7 and sterna 5–8 with sparse erect black setae.

Material examined. Holotype. ♂, CHINA, Zhejiang, Qingliangfeng, Lumingyougu-Baibuling, 11.VIII.2005, Shimin, No. 201400022 ( ZJUH). Paratypes. 1♂, Fujian, Meihuashan, 1100–1400 m, 23–24.VIII.1988, He Junhua, No. 887309 ( ZJUH); 1♂, Hunan, Cili, Suoxishangu, 6.IX.1988, No. IOZ(E)1911227 ( IZCAS).

Distribution. China (Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan).

Remarks. The male of this new species is similar to that of T. impressus ( Chen, 1957) , but differs by having the distance between the scape carinae 0.3 × scape width (distance between scape carinae more than 0.5 × scape width in T. impressus , Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2. A, C, E vs. Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2. A, C, E D); the clypeal preapical concave area longer (clypeal preapical concave area shorter in T. impressus , Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2. A, C, E vs. Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2. A, C, E ); the volsellar cuspis with long dense setae (volsellar cuspis with shorter sparse setae in T. impressus , Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 A, B vs. Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 C, D).

Etymology. The specific name refers to the similarity of this new species to T. impressus .
