Distribution. China: Hainan.
Comments. Two species of the subgenus Semisyndicus are known to occur in Hainan: S. hainanicus and S. grossepunctatus Yin and Li, 2015 . They have a sympatric distribution at Jianfengling, with the latter species also being found at Bawangling Nature Reserve (Yin and Li 2015). Syndicus hainanicus can be readily separated from S. grossepunctatus by the distinctly larger body size (2.80–2.82 mm vs. 2.38–2.46 mm), finer punctation on the pronotal disc, and primarily the different aedeagal structures. The type series of S. hainanicus was collected at Jianfengling in April, while all additional specimens examined here were obtained in January.
