Type locality. South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal, Weza NR.

Material examined. SOUTH AFRICA: KWAZULU- NATAL: Weza, Bangeni forest, 30.38 S – 29.39 E, sifted forest litter, 21.xi.1989, E-Y: 2706, leg. Endrödy & Klimaszewski, 163315 ♀♀ ( TMSA, JJRC). EASTERN CAPE: Transkei, Ntsubane Forest Station , 31.27 S – 29.44 E, indigenous forest litter, 25.xi.1987, E-Y: 2537, leg. Endrödy-Younga, 253318 ♀♀ ( TMSA, JJRC) ; same data, but: 24.xi.1988, rotten Cussonia fruit, E-Y: 2577, 1♀ ( TMSA) ; same data, but: 25.xi.1988, forest floor litter, E-Y: 2579, 1033 11♀♀ ( TMSA, JJRC) ; same data, but: 6.xii.1988, E-Y: 2599, 7331 ♀ ( TMSA, JJRC). Variability. Aedeagus of examined specimens from Weza and Silaka is identical with types ( Fig. 29 in PUTHZ 2006), the basal bulbe of aedeagus in specimens from Ntsubane is larger than in specimens from other localities. The enlargement of the head in specimens from Ntsubane is similar as in specimens from Weza and Silaka.

Distribution. Octavius extralobatus has been recorded only from Weza NR in KwaZulu-Natal Province and Mhlanhane, Ntsubane and Silaka in Eastern Cape Province.
