Elimaea (Orthelimaea) leeuwenii Ingrisch 1998 , Tijdschr. Entomol. 141: 75 partim (figs. 2, 52, 78, 116, 119), misidentification
Holotype (male): Thailand: Kanchanaburi, near Erawan Waterfall, road to Pha That Cave [14°22'N, 99°4'E], 2.vi.1988, leg. S. Ingrisch, depository: Museum Koenig Bonn ( ZFMK).
Paratypes: Thailand: 2 females, 1 male, same data as holotype (1 female in ZFMK, remainder in CI); 1 female, near Erawan Waterfall [14°20'N, 99°8'E], 17–19.vi.1986, leg. S. Ingrisch ( MBBJ); 3 males, Thong Pha Phum to Khao Laem Dam (near northern border of village) [14°45'N, 98°39'E], 15.vi.1986, leg. S. Ingrisch (1 male in MBBJ, remainder in CI).
Diagnosis. The new species is similar to O. leeuwenii , it differs by the stridulatory file having the teeth rather regularly spaced over the whole length, by a shorter subgenital plate, by the male cerci being laterally compressed except at basal widening; the epiproct has stout apico-lateral angles and is straight in between, and the male phallus has the membranous lateral lobes with a subapical constriction while the central lobe carrying the simple spinulose sclerites has a bilobate apex. From O. bezborodovi it differs by the epiproct being without medial projection at apex, shorter subgenital plate, more strongly curved and compressed cerci, and the membranous lateral phallus with a subapical constriction.
Description. Fastigium verticis narrow, dorsally furrowed; separated from fastigium frontis by an angular gap. Pronotum narrow; disc with rounded lateral angles; paranota longer than high; humeral sinus present. Tegmen narrow; costal field little widened in basal half, apex rounded; hind wings projecting. Anterior coxa with minute spinule. Femora with small black spinules on ventral margins. Anterior femur straight. Anterior tibia with four apical spurs; tibial tympana conchate on both sides.
Male. Stridulatory area rather narrow ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 E). Stridulatory file arched, 1.04–1.25 mm long; teeth medium sized, little spaced, towards apex smaller; with 29–32 teeth, equating 23–28 teeth per mm ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 G). Mirror on right tegmen with broadly rounded anterior margin; hind margin substraight with rounded lateral corners, 1.01– 1.13 mm long, 0.45–1.01 mm wide; index length: width 1.07–1.17 ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 F). Tenth abdominal tergite with hind margin concave in middle ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 A). Epiproct short, widening apicad with rounded apico-lateral corners ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 B). Cerci only in about basal quarter conical; afterwards compressed and re-curved; apex acute ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 C). Subgenital plate elongate with about apical half nearly parallel-sided; less than apical half divided into two little twisted lobes with numerous spinules along internal margins of fissing area ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 H). Phallus lateral lobes with flat apical to latero-ventral expansion; medial lobe with a pair of compressed, elongate sclerites, lateral surfaces hyaline and scaly; dorsal margin little sinuate, brown and densely denticulate ( Figs. 12 View FIGURE 12 B–D).
Female. Tenth abdominal tergite with hind margin emarginated. Epiproct semicircular. Cerci strongly curved, conical; apex pointing. Subgenital plate roughly triangular; in midline strongly emarginated from base ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 E). Ovipositor short sabre-shaped; margins in about apical half with strong, large teeth ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 F).
Coloration. Green. Vertex, disc of pronotum and dorsal area of tegmen dark brown or black; on disc often bordered by light bands. Tegmen with few brown dots in the cells. Females with dorsal band light brown or only indicated.
Measurements (5 males, 3 females). Body w/wings: male 28–33, female 37–38; body w/o wings: male 13–18, female 18–20; pronotum: male 3.0–3.5, female 3.9–4.2; tegmen: male 22.0–24.5, female 29–30; tegmen width: male 3.8–4.5, female 4.5–5.0; hind femur: male 19–20, female 23.5–24.0; ovipositor: female 7.0– 7.5 mm.
Etymology. Named after the short name for the type locality; noun in apposition.
